Atlantic Aviation operates the largest private aviation footprint at AUS — heated and air-conditioned hangars, an executive lounge with dedicated business aviation seating, a private ramp separate from the commercial side, and hangar storage for transient aircraft. Atlantic is typically our pick for Austin clients on weekly recurring corporate trips because of the ramp space and quicker turn times for aircraft staying on the field for a few hours.

Atlantic also coordinates with Austin's top restaurants for catering, manages ground transportation handoffs at the ramp, and offers direct passenger ramp access — meaning the walk from the lounge to the aircraft door is under a minute.

AUS has two parallel runways: 18L/36R at 12,250 feet and 18R/36L at 9,000 feet. Both handle any aircraft category in private aviation — light jets, midsize, super-midsize, heavy, ultra-long-range, VIP airliners, BBJs. There are effectively no aircraft restrictions at AUS for the kind of charter lift we book. For the very largest VIP airliners (BBJ, Lineage 1000, ACJ319), AUS is the only practical Austin option because EDC's runway is too short.

Taxi times at AUS are usually 5–10 minutes from FBO to runway, depending on commercial traffic. Peak commercial banks (6–9 a.m. and 4–7 p.m.) can add a few minutes; off-peak departures move very quickly.

AUS is a full international airport with on-field U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Private jet arrivals from Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, or Europe clear customs through the FBO (typically Signature) rather than the commercial terminal — meaning a 5–10 minute clearance instead of 45+ minutes in the commercial customs line. This is the single biggest reason we default international Austin charters to AUS rather than EDC.

CBP requires advance notification for international arrivals; we coordinate the eAPIS filing and customs notification as part of every international Austin charter booking.

AUS is approximately 9 miles southeast of downtown Austin — a 15-minute drive off-peak, 20–30 minutes during commute hours. From the Domain, North Austin, or Round Rock, drive time runs 30–45 minutes depending on time of day. From south Austin neighborhoods (South Congress, Travis Heights, Barton Hills) AUS is the closer choice over EDC by a meaningful margin.

Choose AUS for any Austin private jet charter when: the aircraft is a heavy or ultra-long-range jet; the trip involves international customs in either direction; you need hangar storage for a multi-day visit; you're connecting from a commercial arrival; or you live south of the river and the drive time math favors AUS. For most other missions — light/midsize jet, domestic, North Austin pickup, peak SXSW/F1 week congestion avoidance — EDC is usually the better answer.
